Special instructions for importing records from a prior version into the latest version of either FBA Pro or CPI Pro

In order to provide full compatibility with Windows 10 and Mac OS 10.13 (High Sierra) records from versions prior to FBA Pro 3.1 or CPI Pro 6.3 are not directly compatible with the newer versions. However, records from the old versions can be imported into the new versions by carefully following these instructions:

  1. Open the old version of the software and click the button entitled “Show list of all records” (this will ensure that you export all of the records)
  2. Select the “Export Records” script from the Script menu at the top of the screen
  3. In the window that opens allowing you to name the new file, be sure to select “Merge” as the file type, (NOT Filemaker as the instructions suggest)
  4. Be sure to remember where the new file can be found and what name you have given it (be sure you can clearly differentiate the exported CPI and FBA files)
  5. Close the old version of the software and open the new version
  6. From the main application window (of either the FBA Pro or CPI Pro) select the "Import from saved file” script from the Script menu at the top of the screen
  7. In the next window (after the dialogue of instructions) navigate to the previously exported “Merge” (.mer) file and click the “Open” button (you may need to set it to show either “All Files” or “Merge Files” in order to be able to select and import the file
  8. Your old records should now be safely imported to your new software
